GreenH2 India and New Energy Opportunities (NEO), in association with BNMIT, launch Centre of Excellence in Innovation in Deeptech & Clean Energy at Bangalore, India

BENGALURU / GURGAON / SYDNEY, 28 October 2026 — GreenH2 Opportunities Pvt. Ltd. (GreenH2 India) and New Energy Opportunities Ltd. (NEO) of Australia have announced the launch of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Innovation in Deeptech and Clean Energy, which they will set up and run in association with BNM Institute of Technology (BNMIT), Bengaluru, India. The Centre was inaugurated on 26 October 2026.

The CoE in Bengaluru brings together a Venture Studio, an Accelerator, an Office of Technology Transfer and the NEO Global Platform under one roof. It will be delivered with global VC funds, venture development companies, venture studios, accelerators, innovation hubs and universities. Over its first five years, the CoE will co-found, accelerate and globalise more than 50 deeptech and clean-tech startups, from lab to global market.

GreenH2 India has already signed a similar agreement with the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) to set up a clean-energy innovation hub in Sharjah, UAE.

Asian market depth meets an Australian global clean-energy platform

GreenH2 India brings a focus on green hydrogen and clean energy and a deep network across Asia’s innovation and industry ecosystem. It serves as the anchor for the CoE’s India and UAE hubs. NEO brings a global new-energy investment and venture development platform, access to international VC funds and portfolio companies, and the NEO Global Platform for market entry across five regions.

NEO is a global clean-energy holding company with more than 15 active portfolio companies spanning production to end use. These include green data centres, waste-to-energy, electric and hydrogen buses, and hydrogen storage, generation and production.

The India Hub draws on a deep talent pool, a strong university base and a fast-scaling clean-energy market. The UAE Hub offers a gateway to the Middle East and North Africa, a capital-rich ecosystem and leadership in the energy transition.

Focus areas and five-year ambition

The Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru covers seven clean-energy technology areas: green hydrogen and derivatives; renewable power and storage; grid and digital energy; water–energy nexus; industrial decarbonisation; climate and circular tech; and clean mobility and green data centres. It also spans eight deeptech verticals: digital transformation; AI and advanced computing; clean energy, climate and sustainability; biotech, healthcare and life sciences; advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0; mobility, aerospace and transport; cybersecurity and blockchain; agritech, foodtech and water tech; and human–machine and frontier technologies.

Voices from the inauguration

Speaking at the grand inauguration, Mr. Jay Sinha, CEO, GreenH2 India, and Member of the NEO Global Leadership Team, said: “India has the talent, the capital and the ambition to lead the next wave of deeptech and clean-energy innovation. GH2I-NEO brings everything a founder needs under one roof: proven global technologies, seed capital, hands-on support and a direct path to five global markets through the NEO Global Platform. Our goal is simple: to co-found, accelerate, fund and globalise ventures from lab to global market.”

Dr. Narayan Rao R. Maanay, Chairman, Governing Body, BNMIT, and Secretary, BNMEI, said that the CoE will provide a platform for ideas to move from research laboratories to real-world applications. It will bring together multidisciplinary expertise and enable faculty, students, researchers and industry partners to collaborate on meaningful technological solutions.

Prof. Eishwar N. Maanay, Dean and Trustee, BNMIT, said the Centre of Excellence will help students and faculty monetise their learning, IP and skills by working on international projects, and help them become familiar with technology commercialisation and go-to-market activities.

Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni, Additional Director and Principal, BNMIT, said that BNMIT is proud to partner with pioneers such as GreenH2 India and NEO Australia to cultivate an ecosystem where deeptech meets clean energy for a sustainable tomorrow.

A distinguished line-up of international and national partners graced the evening ceremony, delivering keynote addresses and guest lectures before a strong audience of faculty, students and enthusiastic industry participants.

Elliott Parker, CEO, Alloy Partners, USA, said: “Bangalore has the engineers, the ideas and the industrial opportunities that great clean-energy companies are built on. We intend to launch a venture studio here with GreenH2 India, BNMIT and NEO, and we couldn’t ask for better partners. Our shared objective is to help entrepreneurs get from lab to global market faster than they could alone.”

Dr. Vivek Koncherry, CEO and Chairman, Graphene Innovations Manchester (UK), expressed his delight at delivering a keynote at the inauguration. He said he believes the initiative strengthens the strategic link between Manchester and India. By combining GIM’s capabilities in advanced materials, AI and robotics with India’s thriving deeptech ecosystem, the partners can accelerate breakthrough technologies, from space applications and radiation shielding to advanced composites, with global impact for both the UK and India.

The other distinguished speakers and ecosystem partners included Akira Tanaka, Vice President and Head of APAC, Classiq Technologies G.K. (Japan); Vasanth Palliyath, Regional Commercial Director, APAC, Classiq Technologies G.K. (Japan); Dr. Uma Nambiar, CEO, IISc Medical School Foundation; Ramesh Verkot, Advisor, GreenH2 India and NEO; and Vivek Ramachandra, Advisor, ACME Projects, and formerly of Hitachi Energy.
